Reginald Pittman

reg1.jpg (55276 bytes)Reginald Pittman is Assistant Professor and teaches voice and serves as the Director of the Opera Theatre. He directs the fall opera workshop which includes opera, operetta and Broadway musical theatre scenes. During the spring semester he directs the fully-staged opera/operetta performances with the collaboration of the theatre department. Pittman also is the advisor to the KSU opera guild.

Dr. Pittman received the bachelor and master degrees from The University of North Texas. He studied voice with Dr. Edward Baird and served as a teaching assistant during his graduate years. Pittman recently completed the Doctor of Music Degree from The Indiana University School of Music where he studied voice with Metropolitan Opera Soprano Margaret Harshaw. He received extensive operatic training at Indiana University performing nine leading roles with the opera theatre.

His professional credits include performances with the Des Moines, San Diego, Arizona, New Orleans, Shrevport, Dallas, and Mississippi opera companies and several symphony orchestras. Dr. Pittman was regional winner of the Southwest Regional Metropolitan Opera Auditions, finalist for the MacAlister Vocal Competition, and The Southern Regional Opera Competition in Birmingham Alabama. He also was awarded the Rancho Bernardo Opera Award for his success as an apprentice with the San Diego Opera Center. Dr. Pittman is often in demand as as adjudicator, musical conductor, and stage director for operas and musicals. He has received numerous awards for excellence in teaching.
