What is Fantasy Football?
(in a nutshell)
Each Fantasy team has a roster of Offensive players, Defensive teams
and Special Teams from the National Football League (NFL). Generally each
NFL player can only be on one Fantasy Team in the league.
Each week fantasy teams are paired off to play each other (during the
They each pick a set number of players from their roster.
The players get points based upon their performance that week.
The fantasy team with the higher point total from its starters "wins".
Players basically get points for Touchdowns (roughly 6 points per), yardage
(1 for 10) (QBs get 1 for 20 yards passing), and miscellaneous other stats.
Here is how
the scoring is defined in the leagues I run.
Some leagues combine Defenses and Specials Teams, some leagues use both Special Teams and Defenses and some leagues use individual defensive players. My leagues keep Special Teams and Defenses seperate, each unit being treated as a single fantasy player.
We tend to play a 14 week fantasy season, followed by a 3 week playoff.
That way our entire season is played in the NFL regular season when all
the NFL teams are playing.
